My name is Dr. Parchuri. I’m an orthopedic surgeon, board-certified, practicing with Spine and Orthopedic Specialists here in Tulsa. We’ve been open now for approximately 5 years and are proud to call Tulsa home and provide excellent orthopedic and spine care to all our patients.

Recovery for patients after spine surgery varies depending on the procedure done. Sometimes patients can go home that day within a couple of hours after a procedure such as a microdiscectomy. If you have undergone an epidural sterile injection, that’s a very quick procedure where you actually go home within a few minutes after the procedure if you don’t have any type of sedative. If you have a major surgery such as a fusion, you typically require one to two days in the hospital, and the recovery process can be anywhere from six weeks to twelve weeks depending on the type of work done. It doesn’t mean that you’re bed-ridden. It means that you can go back to work in some capacity. You can drive. You can take care of yourself. There’s just going to be restrictions on you, such as lifting, bending, those type of things.
