The length of your surgical procedure is completely dependent on many factors such as the type of surgery being performed, your general health, and whether or not you have had previous surgeries. Some surgeries performed by Dr. Kris Parchuri D.O. are considered outpatient procedures. This simply means that you will be discharged a few hours after surgery. Other surgeries may require you to stay in the hospital for a few days. Surgery time and hospital stay will all be explained in detail at your office visit when you’re scheduling the appointments.

Upon leaving the hospital you will be given discharge instructions informing you of what you should and shouldn’t be doing during your recovery period. This differs per patient depending on what surgical procedure was performed. A post-operative appointment will be scheduled for a few weeks after surgery. A post-operative appointment will also be scheduled at this time. Post-operative appointments are normally scheduled three weeks from the date of surgery and depending on the surgery you may be required to have X-rays taken in our office the same day.

Many people wonder how soon it will be able to return to work after their operation. This differs for every patient depending on the type of surgical procedure that was preformed, the patient’s type of work, how quickly the patient recovers, etc. On average you can expect to be off from work anywhere from 3-6 weeks. If work requires heavy and labor intensive duties extra time is allotted during the post-operative period.
